July 6th CAC Podcast
July 7, 2012 at 3:55 pm by Franklin Rabon under Atlanta Braves
Kevin and I discuss McCann’s struggles, how good the outfield has been, struggling prospects, potential trades and several other topics. Music by an up and coming band named Oasis. They’re British.

No disrespect intended, but is the Oasis comment a joke?
The end song was never on any album, single or B-Side. I’ll let you decide.
Seriously?
Thanks for the podcast-best sound quality yet. I enjoyed how you opened with outfield defense because it has been a joy watching them play all year. And it is nice that they, though still undervalued and underrated, are starting to get local and national attention.
Regarding offensive prospects, at least for the bench, what about Ernesto Mejia, and part-time work of Constanza? I know he hasn’t hit since May, but if he comes back and hits w/ any semblance of what he did when he got hurt, Evan Gattis would still be a bright spot, even if a long shot. Regarding pitching prospects, what about Zeke Spruill…his numbers are at least similar to Gilmartin, and long-term JR Graham looks much better than expected. I’ve been a little disappointed w/ La Stella since beginning of year.
Minor & Delgado to me look pretty on-par for each other. Delgado looks like he can get away with more because he has better “stuff” (95 mph) fastball. I like Minor for his gritty mentality, thinks through hitters, and being left-handed. I just don’t know enough about them. They both seem to be either feast or famine (i.e. either they are getting everyone out, or they fall apart and do it quickly). It would help if Fredi would let them pitch through trouble, but they often don’t get into any real trouble until later innings.
Apparently Braves had a scout in attendance for Greinke’s ejection. Do we have any shot at landing him? Or would Wren not want to pay the cost?
I think we have a shot at landing him. It really is a tough call. I think ultimately either the Brewers keep him because they want too much or they get outbid, but I’d put the Braves’ chances at like 25% of landing him if I were forced to pick a number.
Rentals like Greinke are much less likely–for any team not just the Braves–because of the new rules about draft picks. Trading Greinke would cost the Brewers a draft choice but the acquiring team would not get one.
Neither of you mentioned McCann’s eye problems
