Nice job, Ben! You seemed a bit nervous at first, but you started to settle in well. Berg is a goober that needs a better hair/makeup and wardrobe person, which makes me reluctant to say that you should really invest in some stays. Your reporting was dead-on and your piece was well done overall though.

Yeah not one of our Starters for this series were on the team or in that role at the beginning of the season and now its possibly the strongest part of the rotation depending on how Maholm does his second time on the mound.

  4. Carlton says:

if you smile during the set up and introduction the way you smiled at the end no one will know how nervous you felt.

    • Ben Duronio says:

I really wasn’t nervous. I can see how it looks that way, but god’s honest truth. It’s just awkward when he’s doing the intro.

      • JeffinNC says:

Ben: Berg’s intro is a bit long on the opening camera shot, which can in itself look a bit awkward since you aren’t saying anything for quite a while.

Next time, you might consider alternating looking at Berg and the camera before you are asked the first question. Might help to loosen up the appearance of the shot. Just a thought.

Info was stellar, my man. You rocked it.

  5. Durbin the destroyer says:

You did great Ben, can’t say I care for the other guys smug, slimy look. Fair play to them for getting you up there again and getting some real analysis of the opposition.

  6. Silver says:

The only time I truly feel like a Homer is when someone says they hate Chipper Jones, my favorite piece of white trash.

  7. Nick says:

Awesome job. Always solid work on the blog as well.

Fantastic knowledge. I know you’re in MBA so I assume you’ve done some communications classes. More excitement & get those arms moving a little bit! Great job!!

Hey guys, I just spent a while on the phone with mlb.tv and am hoping that some of you may be smarter than them and can help me out with a problem. I watch most games on my Kindle Fire with the At Bat Lite application. For the first time today I got a message telling me that At Bat couldn’t verify my location and asked me to enable location checks. I called and spoke with a service rep, first in India and then in the U.S., who told me that last night mlb.tv “discovered” that some users could access blacked out games. (I’m not sure what the story is here – perhaps you can access blacked out games in your area if your customer service profile lists you outside the area. So I’m living in Ann Arbor and can watch Braves games but not Tigers game, but presumable the same would be true if I took my Kindle Fire home to visit my mom in South Carolina.) So bottom line – mlb.tv is no longer accessible on the Kindle Fire. Really steamed, you guys. They customer service rep told me that they are working on a new Kindle Fire app, but who knows how long that will take? It’s particularly annoying for me because I like to work on my computer (I’m finishing a dissertation) while the game is on at the corner of my desk. Now I’ve got to choose between work and the game. I’m not very good at computer stuff – does anyone know if there might be a way around this problem? Thanks in advance.

86 game score from Maholm. Well-pitched game.

Hey, I thought you did a great job–not only answering the questions with succinct, clear, and on-point responses, but by inserting capitol avenue flare with references to defensive metrics and on base percentage. any time someone can add publicity to overlooked sources of information in mainstream media, it makes me happy. i actually don’t think you seemed too nervous. my only qualm was with the pronounciation of maholm–it’s ma-holl-um, not ma-holme like it’s spelled
