Patrick scoggin played at my high school. A little worried for the braves that he is the number 40 prospect haha.
Really enjoyed this podcast. Always helps to hear the whys and hows behind the stats/models we use…really soaks in as opposed to just reading explanations briefly.
thanks man, glad you enjoyed it.
I agree with Arun … you guys got chemistry you can dream on – haha. Seriously you guys took a topic that is not as interesting to me personally and made it compelling.
Nice job.
That’s awesome to hear. If we have one mission this year, it’s to help bring the mainstream more over to the ‘CAC way of thinking’. My thought with a lot of more ‘advanced’ baseball stuff is that most people would actually enjoy it, if it was presented differently. There’s a certain segment that either purposefully or (more commonly) unknowingly alienates people to in depth analysis, not because people don’t like in depth analysis, but because they make no effort to make it intelligible to those who haven’t been exposed to it as much. We think these topics and ways of thinking are compelling if people really understand it, and it’s our job to help you guys understand it.
It would be awesome if we knew roughly the minute mark that each prospect is discussed so we could jump around. Just a thought if it isn’t too much work.
Awesome job. It’s good to hear about the prospects, but this post was really about understanding FIP and ERA+/- for me. Would love to hear more about advanced hitting stats/modules next.
