Great stuff, guys. Hopefully all goes well with the rotation and these guys exceed expectations. I’m especially excited to see how Minor improves.
Just curious… you all voiced some sort of concern for the Braves NEEDING Teheran for that 5th spot and the uncertainty/risk (which is natural) of him successfully filling that role. Aside from waiting out until the trade deadline to make a move and/or waiting on Beachy to return (August?), what handful of SPs could the Braves seriously go after this spring to possibly compete with Julio or provide insurance? Any rumors?
I forgot who mentioned it in the podcast (maybe Andrew?), but he sounded very optimistic in the prospects of signing a poor man’s Maholm-type SP, not his words, in the next few weeks just in case of injury or to compete with Teheran.
Capuano,Harang, Vazquezm Oswalt are all options the team could pursue of there’s an injury or Teheran is awful.
They’d have to trade for Capuano or Harang, wouldn’t they? Would want as few strings attached as possible for a 5 spot guy…
yep they’d have to trade, yet I wouldn’t expect the price to be too high, low level types I would assume, maybe the Rev or something
they could also go dumpster diving for someone like Oliver Perez, Freddy Garcia type who will get cut by wtvr team they are trying to latch onto this year.
I was wondering if you guys would get to the Save next and tackle another statistic that is largely useless. I long for the days when Shutdowns and Meltdowns are used over the Save, but I don’t see that happening for a very long time.
