Fantasy Podcast at The Fantasy Fix

February 28, 2013 at 11:32 am by under Atlanta Braves

Last night I recorded a podcast with Brett Talley of The Fantasy Fix. I know a lot of our readers are fantasy players and it is a huge passion of mine as well. The podcast is very Braves-centric, or else I wouldnt’ be posting the link here. Check it out if you want to hear my analysis of Braves players from a fantasy perspective and some other things, like Jennifer Lawrence and car chases.

    Thoughts:

CAC has posted fantastic articles projecting wins (I think the article I’m thinking about may have been specifically about LF) based on WAR. Since the regular season-end goal is to win the division it would be pretty cool to see a similar article showing the same thing for the Nationals and the Phillies vs the Braves.

    OFF TOPIC

I am not sure to whom I should direct this message, but I am fairly certain that I recall reading analysis at this site indicating an intense interest on the part of the author relating to performance of prospects as affected by a prospect’s age relative to his peers, and the attendant impact on scouting and talent evaluation. Accordingly there has been a newly published study focused on selection bias in the NHL draft that examines how relative age effects tend to create bias that influences teams to make incorrect draft selections, which in turn creates feedback to influence relative age effects. cool thanks. Though the relevant research has already been done for baseball, by Rany Jazayerli in Baseball Prospectus’ Baseball Between the Numbers: Extra Innings.

Anyone see the article on AJC.com about Peachtree TV’s games being moved to the Fox sports networks? It says it gives the Braves’ TV revenue a bit of a bump. Probably not a very big bump, but every little bit helps. Sucks for anyone who doesn’t have cable or satellite, though.
